St Luke's Primary School

Parent/Carer Workshops

Learning about the curriculum

Throughout your child’s time at St Luke’s, you will be invited to meetings to learn all about how we teach core curriculum areas. This is particularly important in the key areas of Mathematics, Reading and Personal, Social and Health Education, where teaching methods may have changed significantly since you were at school.

Meetings are usually held after school at 3:30 and then at 5:30 so that working parents can attend. Meetings in Reception are often held during the school day, so that children can be collected from class and can demonstrate how they learn with you. We find this is a really good way for everyone to learn in Reception.

We endeavour to have a crèche at all our after school meetings, although it can be hard to have these at 5:30. If parents and carers are unable to find childcare, please let the office know. Sometimes it is perfectly fine for children to attend meetings too.

Here is a list of the meetings that are regularly held each year. There will be a letter sent at the beginning of the school year which will give you dates for all these meetings.

There are many other meetings that you will be invited to through the year. You will be informed of these by letter and e mail. It is very useful for us at school if parents and carers fill in reply slips, so we can judge the amount of resources to make for each meeting.
